READING NOTES
Welded structure
Welded gabions and woven gabions can both form stone-filled protection structures, but their construction differs. Welded gabions use rigid panels and create a regular box shape, which suits projects that value appearance, dimensional consistency or modular installation.
Woven structure and terrain
Woven gabions have a flexible mesh structure and can accommodate local uneven settlement and more complex terrain. For channels, slopes or continuous lining, installers often value their adaptability and lacing method.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Regular modules | Appearance, dimensional consistency and modular installation | Welded panels, connectors and transit protection |
| Complex terrain | Uneven settlement, slopes and continuous lining | Woven structure, unfolding and lacing |
| Project delivery | Stone, transport and installer preference | Diaphragms, bracing and closure |
Transport and installation
Stone size, transport and installation conditions should also guide the choice. Welded panels need protection from bending in transit and rely more on connectors on site. Woven mesh has a different unfolding and lacing rhythm. Both systems still require sensible diaphragms, bracing and closure.

Compare the alternatives against design use, basket dimensions, stone grading, terrain, transport method and installer preference—not only the price per square metre.
