DIRECT ANSWER

Confirm the use before the specification

Specify the substrate, sequence of welding and finishing, treatment of cut edges and the agreed method for local repair.

Bring the application, site conditions and delivery requirements into the decision so the quotation can be built around a real project.

READING NOTES

01

Describe a process route

Terms such as galvanized or powder coated leave important questions unanswered. Identify the base material and ask the supplier to describe when welding, cutting, forming and finishing occur. Clarify whether the required finish covers completed joints and cut ends. This gives the buyer a useful basis for comparing proposals that may otherwise use the same product description for different routes.

02

Review the vulnerable details

Look closely at welded intersections, trimmed edges, enclosed corners and contact points with the frame. Agree what the finished sample should look like at these locations and which imperfections require correction. Match the selected coating system to the actual exposure and cleaning regime with the coating specialist. Appearance alone cannot establish the expected corrosion performance of the installation.

Agree repair before delivery

State who handles coating damage found during receipt, assembly or site work. Define the approved preparation and repair materials through the coating supplier's instructions, along with any limits on where local repair is acceptable. Keep the finish reference and repair record with the order. Unrecorded touch up can conceal a recurring packaging or installation problem that deserves a separate corrective action.
