READING NOTES
Identify the acoustic task
Clarify whether the panel is intended to admit sound to an absorber, form part of a tuned treatment or close an equipment enclosure. These are different design tasks. Ask the acoustic designer to define the relevant noise sources and assessment method before choosing hole size or open area. A perforated sheet on its own does not establish a noise reduction result.
Draw the complete section
Include sheet thickness, perforation layout, cavity depth, backing treatment and any supporting layers in the same section. Show the orientation of the acoustic material and how it is retained. Review joints, access doors and ventilation paths as part of the enclosure. The designer should assess leakage and panel vibration alongside the intended acoustic behavior of the facing and backing combination.

Preserve the approved assembly
Review a representative assembly through the specified acoustic evaluation where performance is required. Keep the layer schedule, hole layout and installation details with the purchase record. Substituting a different backing, changing the cavity or altering the finish can require review even when the visible panel looks similar. Also establish access for inspection and replacement so maintenance can preserve the intended configuration over time.
