READING NOTES
Define the operating requirement
Obtain the required airflow and operating conditions from the equipment designer before selecting a decorative hole pattern. Identify the objects the intake must exclude and the expected dust or debris exposure. These needs can compete, so record the function of each layer rather than asking one perforated sheet to provide ventilation, filtration and machine safeguarding without separate validation.
Calculate the usable air path
Show how much of the perforated field is hidden by frames, supports and nearby components. Include filters, louvers and other restrictions in the system assessment. The designer should evaluate pressure losses and the fan's installed operating point. Nominal open area is a useful geometric input, but does not establish airflow or cooling performance. Obstructions close to a fan also merit review for uneven inlet conditions.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Verify operation and maintenance
Use the equipment team's agreed test or commissioning method to check performance with the completed intake. Include the expected cleaning interval and access to remove accumulated material. If the panel guards hazardous moving parts, validate opening sizes and hazard distances through the machine design process. Keep the approved panel layout tied to the equipment revision so a later cosmetic change does not bypass that review.
