READING NOTES
Establish the walkway duty
Describe expected users, carried equipment, traffic and exposure to water or process contaminants. Identify the applicable project and local requirements through the responsible designer. Ordinary perforated sheet is not automatically a rated walkway product. Have the engineer validate the completed panel, supports, fixings and edge details for the intended loads and service conditions before approving procurement.
Review the walking surface
Assess the proposed surface profile and opening geometry with the footwear and activities expected at the location. Drainage openings alone do not establish slip resistance. Include transitions to adjoining flooring, stair edges where relevant and areas where liquid could remain. Use the project's specified assessment method for grip under representative conditions rather than assuming that a visually rough pattern will be suitable.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Detail installation and upkeep
Show the support direction, seating and retention so the panel cannot shift under its intended use. Provide a maintenance plan for debris that obstructs drainage or changes the surface condition. Where panels are removable, define safe access and protection of the exposed opening. Preserve the approved orientation and assembly details on installation drawings and labels so site crews receive the same configuration that was evaluated.
