DIRECT ANSWER

Confirm the use before the specification

Set hole locations around the actual bend geometry and forming process, then verify the finished panel with a representative sample.

Bring the application, site conditions and delivery requirements into the decision so the quotation can be built around a real project.

READING NOTES

01

Show the finished shape first

Define the finished flanges, angles and mating surfaces before approving the flat pattern. Mark the bend lines and the nearest perforations on the developed drawing. Make clear whether a hole location is controlled in the flat blank or on the finished component. This avoids approving a layout that appears correct before forming but puts visible holes or fixing features in the wrong position afterward.

02

Review the forming conditions

Hole distortion near a bend depends on the material, thickness, bend geometry and tooling. Ask the fabricator to review the proposed separation between the hole field and each bend. A universal distance is not a reliable substitute for that review. Where appearance or fit is sensitive, consider whether a solid strip around the bend should be included in the trial design.

03

Assess a formed sample

Inspect the actual corner for elongated holes, local waviness and disagreement with the intended angle. Check the piece against its mating frame without forcing it into place. Keep the accepted flat pattern and finished drawing linked by revision. If the process or material changes later, revisit the bend trial before assuming that the previous hole layout will produce the same result.
