READING NOTES
Ask what the length represents
A quotation may use packaged units, wire length or a declared coverage length. Ask the supplier to define the quoted basis explicitly. A roll weight or package count cannot, on its own, establish how much material the authorised site arrangement requires.
Use the approved boundary schedule
Have the site designer or qualified contractor provide the material schedule from the reviewed layout. Identify the drawing and revision behind the quantities. Procurement staff should reconcile the supplier's offer to that schedule without creating a new deployment arrangement during price comparison.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Resolve special locations
Check that the schedule addresses corners, terminations, gates and changes in level. Ask the responsible professional to confirm these locations have been considered. Keep any allowance for cutting, packaging or replacement stock separately described rather than hiding it inside an unexplained multiplier.
Record the agreed supply commitment
The purchase order should state units, the supplier's declared length basis and included components. If the product form changes, request a revised schedule before approval. Retain the supplier's confirmation with the drawing so receiving staff can check delivery completeness without attempting an uncontrolled trial expansion of the material.
