READING NOTES
Describe environmental exposure
Record whether the boundary is inland, coastal, persistently damp or exposed to industrial substances. Include washing and nearby process emissions where relevant. Supply these conditions to the material reviewer rather than relying on a broad outdoor use description.
Separate substrate and finish
Ask bidders to identify the core and tape materials, metallic protection and any additional organic coating. A colour description does not specify the underlying protective system. Include the material and finish of supplied clips and other components in the same review.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Treat stainless as a specified grade
If stainless steel is proposed, request its exact grade and evidence relevant to the environment. Stainless material is not immune to every form of corrosion; chloride exposure and crevices need particular attention. The grade should be selected through an application specific assessment.
Agree evidence and handling
Record the accepted finish specification, batch identification and receipt inspection process. Obtain instructions for dealing with damaged protection without exposing receiving staff to unnecessary handling. Avoid assigning a guaranteed service life from appearance or a general brochure statement; maintenance conditions and the complete installed system belong in that discussion.
