READING NOTES
Identify the weave construction
Dutch weave filter cloth should not be specified as though it were an ordinary square opening mesh. Request the weave designation and warp and weft information. Different Dutch weave constructions require their own technical description, even when commercial names appear similar.
Define the filtration objective
Describe the retained particles and how separation performance will be evaluated. Ask the supplier to explain the basis of any filtration rating and the evidence supporting it. A mesh count alone does not establish the performance of a completed filter in the proposed process.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Provide the operating conditions
Include the fluid, temperature, required flow and expected pressure differential, together with cleaning and flow reversal conditions. Have the equipment specialist review the filter layer, support and seals as an assembly. Avoid interpreting raw cloth data as a pressure rating for a fabricated component.
Compare representative samples
Where the process warrants it, evaluate a sample or prototype under agreed conditions. Record flow, separation results and cleaning observations against the specific weave reference. Retain that reference with the approved material and fabrication drawing so a repeat order does not substitute an apparently similar cloth with a different construction.
