READING NOTES
Begin with the required function
Describe whether the mesh separates particles, forms a barrier or becomes part of a fabricated component. Include its installed shape and how it is supported. Matching aperture names is only one part of comparing two products for the same task.
Identify the junction construction
Woven cloth uses interlaced wires, while welded mesh joins intersecting wires at welds. Request a representative sample of the proposed construction. Review the way its intersections and edges behave during the intended cutting, forming and mounting operations.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Review the finished assembly
Specify panel or piece dimensions, edge finishing, flatness and any frame interfaces. Where guarding is involved, refer suitability to the responsible safety designer. Where filtration is involved, define the opening and separation requirement rather than assuming that a shared nominal aperture makes the constructions interchangeable.
Compare complete supply proposals
Ask each bidder to identify material grade, construction, wire diameter and all finishing operations included. Resolve any proposed substitution against the assembly drawing and application requirements. Retain the accepted sample reference and drawing together so subsequent purchases reproduce the reviewed component rather than only its approximate mesh pattern.
