READING NOTES
Describe the temperature history
Provide normal operating temperature, peaks, holding periods and the frequency of heating and cooling. Identify whether the mesh remains in place during startup and shutdown. A single maximum temperature leaves the material reviewer without the complete operating picture.
Identify the surrounding atmosphere
Record the gases, vapours or process substances that contact the mesh. High temperature oxidation and corrosion depend on the atmosphere as well as the alloy. Request a grade assessment for those conditions rather than extending a room temperature mesh selection into furnace service.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Include load and support
Describe what the mesh carries, how it is restrained and which dimensions must remain controlled. Provide the relevant equipment drawing. Ask the responsible designer to review thermal movement, support and long term deformation using appropriate material information for the selected grade.
Agree inspection criteria
Define the observations and dimensional checks needed after service or a representative trial. Record operating conditions alongside any distortion or surface change so results remain interpretable. Retain the approved alloy, wire construction and support reference together; replacing only the mesh by a familiar stainless name may change the assumptions behind the original heat service review.
