READING NOTES
Assign a purpose to every member
A heavier edge wire or reinforcing member may be intended to support an attachment, stiffen an edge or transfer force into a frame. Mark that role on the drawing. Distinguish the main mesh wire diameter from the border and reinforcement sizes so a quotation cannot reasonably be interpreted as one uniform wire specification. Include material and surface condition for each member.
Review the intersections
Different wire sizes create different contact geometry at a joint. Have the fabricator assess the proposed combination, joining process and access, rather than assuming a heavier member can be substituted without changing production. Show the side on which reinforcement sits and any clearance needed behind it. Check that the completed joint will not interfere with hinges, mounting channels or other mating parts.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Approve the combined sample
Inspect the complete assembly for bow, uneven contact and misplaced reinforcement. Agree the relevant joint inspection or testing with the engineer responsible for its use. Keep the approved member schedule and sample reference together. A change to a border diameter, weld location or reinforcement pattern should trigger review of the assembly rather than being treated as a harmless material adjustment.
