READING NOTES
Start with the enclosure occupants
Identify the species, age range and smallest animals that the enclosure must contain. Include any separation from other animals. Ask the responsible animal care specialist to assess entrapment and escape risks; mesh appearance alone cannot establish suitability.
Review the complete boundary
Draw the posts, corners, gates and changes in ground level. Pay particular attention to gaps where flexible mesh meets a rigid frame or uneven ground. Decide how the enclosure will accommodate routine access, feeding and cleaning before fixing the mesh specification.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Specify manageable edges
State how cut ends, joins and gate edges will be finished and inspected. The order should identify roll width, opening, wire diameter and surface treatment together. A sample section fitted to the intended frame can reveal awkward edges or handling problems that a loose sample does not show.
Make maintenance practical
Choose accessible connections and identify sections that may need replacement. Record exposure to rain, washing and animal contact when reviewing materials. After installation, include the boundary and gate interfaces in the care team's inspection routine, with a clear process for reporting loose mesh or newly formed gaps.
