READING NOTES
Identify the intended duty
Explain whether the mesh provides light enclosure, animal separation or a supporting liner. Record what it must contain and the surfaces to which it will be attached. Lightweight hexagonal wire mesh should not be treated as interchangeable with an engineered double twist gabion product.
Combine opening and wire details
State the opening description, wire diameter, material and surface treatment in one schedule. Ask the supplier to show how the opening is measured if catalogue descriptions differ. Include the edge construction so the quotation covers the mesh as supplied, including its outer boundaries.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Choose useful roll dimensions
Work backward from the installation height and planned joins to select roll width and length. Check access through gates, storage space and how rolls will be carried around the site. A nominally economical roll can require inconvenient cutting if its width does not suit the layout.
Resolve exposure and fixing questions
Describe rain, ground contact, cleaning and other relevant conditions before approving the finish. Have the project team confirm the fixing arrangement and edge treatment for the intended users. Keep the resulting dimensions and handling requirements on the purchase order for consistent delivery.
