READING NOTES
Define what the boundary must do
Record whether the fence defines a garden, separates traffic, contains activity or restricts access. Note visibility, nearby paths and likely contact with the fence. These conditions establish the project brief before a panel profile or color is chosen.
Describe the full panel
Specify overall height, opening dimensions, wire diameter and the proposed bends or frame. A drawing should show where each bend sits and which face points toward the site. An image can communicate appearance, but it cannot establish the dimensions needed for a coordinated order.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Match posts and connections
Check panel width against post layout, brackets and fixing positions. Include ends, corners and changes in ground level in the review. Request a coordinated assembly drawing rather than selecting a panel and assuming that any post arrangement will fit it.
Confirm the project basis
Have the responsible designer assess loads, foundations and any requirements associated with the boundary's use. Review a sample connection when appearance or fit is critical. The purchasing specification should then identify the agreed panel, post and hardware arrangement, with revisions recorded before production begins.
