READING NOTES
Work backward from useful pieces
List the finished strips or panels that will be cut from each roll. Include their orientation and any edge material that cannot be used. Sketch a simple cutting layout before choosing roll width; this makes recurring offcuts and awkward narrow strips visible during procurement.
Review continuous installation
For long runs, mark where joins can occur and where uninterrupted coverage is required. Compare alternative roll lengths against those locations. The longest available roll is not automatically the most convenient if it cannot be moved or positioned within the work area.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Check the handling route
Record access limits, lifting arrangements and storage conditions at the destination. Ask for packaged dimensions and weight information for the actual proposed roll. Share those details with the receiving team before dispatch so unloading and staging can be planned accurately.
Write the supply basis clearly
State nominal roll dimensions, agreed tolerances, permitted joins and how length will be identified. Clarify whether short lengths or mixed roll sizes are acceptable. Compare suppliers using usable yield and handling effort alongside unit price, keeping the accepted cutting plan with the purchasing record.
