READING NOTES
Make the cutting schedule comparable
Provide a complete list of finished sizes and quantities, including handed parts and pattern orientation. Distinguish fully perforated stock being cut into pieces from custom sheets with controlled solid borders. These routes can produce different nesting opportunities. Ask each supplier to identify the material and processing assumptions used, so quotations are compared against the same delivered requirement.
Identify layout constraints
A panel may fit geometrically on a parent sheet yet be unusable when rotated because the slot direction or visible pattern would change. Include these restrictions along with cutting allowances and required edge conditions. Consider whether several sizes can be nested together within the delivery schedule. Do not merge batches solely to reduce waste if their material or appearance requirements differ.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Agree what happens to remnants
Clarify whether usable offcuts are returned, retained for a later release or included as scrap in the price. Include identification and storage arrangements if remnants will support future orders. Review the total delivered cost, including any extra processing or handling associated with the proposed layout. A lower price per finished area is meaningful only when the resulting panels and order scope remain equivalent.
