READING NOTES
Dimension the finished cylinder
State the required internal or external diameter and identify which surface controls the fit. Include the finished length, end interfaces and any collars or rings. A flat sheet width alone does not define the completed cylinder because the joint detail and forming process affect the result. Let the fabricator review the developed blank from the finished geometry rather than relying on a simple circumference conversion.
Locate the seam deliberately
Choose the seam position relative to brackets, access openings and visible faces. Show whether the joint overlaps, meets at a butt seam or uses a separate connector. Define any solid edge strip required by the proposed connection. Check the hole rows on either side for unwanted interruption, and ensure the seam will not obstruct a filter element or other internal component.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Check the assembled shape
Inspect a formed sample against the intended end fittings. Assess roundness using an agreed method and support condition, because forcing the cylinder over a fitting can conceal distortion. For filter housings or other pressured equipment, the responsible engineer must establish the applicable system requirements. A perforated cylinder's shape and neat seam do not establish a pressure or structural rating.
