READING NOTES
Define what flat means for the job
A decorative panel viewed in reflected light and a hidden intake panel may need different acceptance criteria. State the panel size, intended supports and the surface condition being judged. Agree whether flatness is measured freely supported on a reference surface or in a specified fixture. Record local edge curl separately where it can prevent the panel from seating against its frame.
Review the entire layout
Bring the perforated field, solid margins and thickness into the fabrication review together. Ask how the proposed pattern and any leveling operation affect the delivered condition. A stock sheet description should not be treated as a promise of the flatness needed for a large custom component. Include subsequent cutting and forming in the review if the sheet will be processed again before installation.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Compare a representative panel
Use a sample that reflects the actual panel proportions and fixing arrangement. A small hand sample provides little evidence about broad waviness. Inspect the installed appearance, edge gaps and any movement under the expected operating conditions. If the mounting system pulls the panel flat, have the designer assess that condition and the connections rather than silently changing the free panel acceptance method.
