DIRECT ANSWER

Confirm the use before the specification

State coating process, exposure and inspection requirements clearly when comparing galvanized or polymer coated mesh.

Bring the application, site conditions and delivery requirements into the decision so the quotation can be built around a real project.

READING NOTES

01

Describe the service environment

Record where the mesh will be installed and what it will encounter. Indoor storage, outdoor fencing and damp process areas present different purchasing questions. Include recurring wetting, cleaning products and access for maintenance when asking for a proposed surface treatment.

02

Name the coating route

The word galvanized does not fully identify the treatment being offered. Ask the supplier to state the coating process and whether it is applied before or after fabrication. Where a polymer layer is included, identify that layer separately from the underlying metal coating.

03

Agree what acceptance means

Discuss the required appearance and how coating information will be documented. Distinguish decorative expectations from measurable coating requirements. State any inspection method and acceptance limits in the order after they have been agreed, without substituting a color photograph for the specification.

04

Compare on a common basis

Check that quotations describe the same substrate, fabrication sequence and finishing scope. Include cut edges, welded areas and any required treatment after further fabrication in the review. Keep the accepted finish description with the product drawing so future purchases do not revert to a vague material name.
