READING NOTES
Define screening or airflow
Hole size tells you only how large an opening is; it does not define flow, screening performance or panel strength. Pitch, pattern and open area change the result directly, so they must be selected with the application in mind.
Hole, pitch and open area
For screening, start with the target particle size, acceptable pass rate and cleaning method. For ventilation guards or equipment covers, consider airflow direction, noise and protection. For decorative panels, visual density, flatness and bend locations matter more.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Screening, ventilation, guarding or decoration | Particle size, airflow or visual density |
| Hole parameters | Hole, pitch, pattern and open area | Sheet size, perforated area and quantity |
| Material and fabrication | Thickness, material, bending and edging | Manufacturability, finish and application fit |
Thickness, material and edges
Thickness, material and edge treatment also need to be specified. The punched edge is different in thin and thick sheet, and holes close to the sheet thickness require an early manufacturability check. Galvanised sheet, stainless steel and carbon steel each suit different corrosion, appearance and coating requirements.
Perforated-sheet enquiry
An enquiry should include sheet length and width, thickness, pattern, hole size, pitch, perforated area, quantity and any bending or edging. This prevents a panel that is dimensionally correct but unsuitable for the job.
