DIRECT ANSWER

Confirm the use before the specification

Compare quotations against one specification, including accessories, packaging, delivery and acceptance requirements.

Bring the application, site conditions and delivery requirements into the decision so the quotation can be built around a real project.

READING NOTES

01

Create a common comparison sheet

Put the requested material, opening, wire diameter, dimensions and finish in separate rows. Add quantities and price units. Enter each supplier's proposed details next to them, marking unclear fields rather than assuming that identical product names describe identical mesh.

02

Check the complete scope

For finished parts, include cutting, edging, flattening and any frame work. For fences, check posts, connections and gates. Identify packaging, labels, inspection records and shipping terms separately. A lower unit price may simply cover fewer operations or a smaller set of components.

03

Evaluate deviations explicitly

Ask suppliers to describe alternatives and exclusions in writing. Review technical differences with the project team before treating them as acceptable savings. Where appearance or assembly matters, compare labeled samples against the same acceptance brief and record the result.

04

Compare the usable delivered offer

Consider lead time, delivery batches, unloading needs and the agreed route for resolving defects. Complete missing information before selecting an offer. Keep the comparison and final accepted specification together so the purchase order reflects the basis of the decision, including any approved departure from the original request.
