READING NOTES
Build a retrievable reference
Keep the previous purchase order, approved specification, drawing revision and inspection record together. Identify retained samples with those same references. A request to repeat the last order becomes unreliable when several batches, alternative finishes or drawing changes exist in the purchasing history.
Confirm what is being repeated
List material, openings, wire diameter, dimensions, edge condition and finish in the new order. For assemblies, include the matching hardware schedule. Referencing an earlier order is helpful, but restating its controlling details gives the supplier a chance to flag inconsistencies before production.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Define the actual application | Environment, function and installation |
| Specification | Confirm product and dimensions | Material, specification, quantity and tolerance |
| Delivery | Align packing and destination | Timing, packing, drawings or photos |
Check changed site conditions
Ask whether the new material must fit an existing installation, replacement equipment or a different exposure. Verify the condition of any old component used as a reference, since wear or distortion can make it a poor measurement sample. Review updated cleaning or maintenance practices where relevant.
Retain batch continuity
Confirm packaging, labels and delivery sequence as well as the product itself. Record any approved material or process substitution as a new version. On receipt, compare the new batch with the accepted documents and sample, preserving a clear basis for the next repeat purchase.
