READING NOTES
Filtration duty and medium
Stainless steel mesh is often purchased by mesh count alone, but mesh count only states the number of openings per unit length. It does not independently define clear opening, strength or flow. With different wire diameters, the same mesh count produces different usable openings.
Mesh count, wire and opening
Start filtration selection with the particle range to be retained, the medium and the flow direction. Liquid filtration, gas filtration and dry screening place different demands on opening, tension and screen construction. If repeated cleaning or pressure differential is expected, the support arrangement must also be considered.
DECISION TABLE
Confirm the parameters against the project
Start with the application, then carry the required checks into the enquiry.Swipe horizontally on mobile to view the full table| Decision area | What to assess | Confirm in the enquiry |
|---|---|---|
| Filtration duty | Particle target, medium and flow | Liquid, gas or dry screening |
| Mesh parameters | Mesh count, wire or target opening | Roll width, length and cut pieces |
| Material and duty | Medium, temperature, cleaning and pressure | Material compatibility and support |
Material and corrosion
Material selection should follow the medium and temperature. Common stainless grades suit different corrosion conditions; a generic claim of rust resistance is not enough. For unusual chemical media, confirm material compatibility before ordering.

Filter-mesh enquiry
Provide mesh count, wire diameter or target opening, roll width, length, cut-piece requirement and operating medium in the enquiry. With this information, the supplier can recommend a suitable weave and packing method and reduce rework after installation.
